PLDO Partner Matthew C. Reeber to Present “New Wage Equity Law is Coming Soon. Are You Ready?” to the Rhode Island Assisted Living Association

Rhode Island – September 27, 2022 – Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC (PLDO) Partner Matthew C. Reeber, a prominent employment lawyer and litigator, will present “New Wage Equity Law is Coming Soon. Are You Ready?” to members of the Rhode Island Assisted Living Association (RIALA) on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Attorney Reeber will host the event at PLDO’s Johnston office at 1301 Atwood Ave., Suite 215N and be joined by Steve Loffredo, President, STELA Consulting, and Brian Zartarian, Assistant Vice President, Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage.

Beginning January 1, 2023, Rhode Island employers will be subject to a new and sweeping law designed to promote pay equity and fairness in the workplace. The Wage Equity Law will have major implications on businesses and subject employers to substantial liability even where employers mistakenly or innocently violate the law’s requirements. The presentation will address the law’s requirements, best practices for avoiding claims for violating the pay equity law, and how employers can comply with the law’s wage disclosure requirements while minimizing impact in their workplace. Attorney Reeber is a member of the firm’s Employment Law and Litigation Teams. He is a highly skilled and experienced trial attorney and litigator, focusing his practice on defending clints in both state and federal courts. Attorney Reeber serves as counsel for a wide range of clients and has successfully handled matters ranging from major property losses to wrongful termination claims. He is a frequent speaker and published author on employment law issues and advisor to employers concerning workplace legal matters, including issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has handled numerous cases arising under state and federal anti-discrimination and anti-retaliation statutes, wage and hour statutes, whistleblower statutes, family and medical leave statutes, unemployment compensation statutes and claims for wrongful termination.
