PLDO Partner Matthew C. Reeber to Lead an Employment Law Workshop on “Best Practices for Workers’ Compensation Claims”

Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC (PLDO) Partner Matthew C. Reeber, a prominent employment law attorney and litigator, will lead a workshop discussion on “Best Practices for Workers’ Compensation Claims” on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the law firm’s Rhode Island office, Northwoods Office Park, 1301 Atwood Ave., Suite 215 N in Johnston. Attorney Reeber will be joined by Nichole Magnifico, CPCU, Vice President at Claim Strategies at Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc. and PLDO Associate Meagan L. Thomson.

The free workshop will provide attendees with an inside look at what insurance adjustors consider vital in determining legitimate claims that protect organization against unnecessary incidents and costs. Topics to be covered include a comprehensive review of the documentation process and HR policies and compliance issues, along with best practice solutions. Attorney Reeber is a member of the firm’s Employment Law and Litigation Teams. He is a frequent speaker on employment law issues and advisor to employers concerning workplace legal matters. He has handled numerous cases arising under state and federal anti-discrimination and anti-retaliation statutes, wage and hour statutes, whistleblower statutes, family and medical leave statutes, unemployment compensation statutes and claims for wrongful termination. As part of his practice, he appears before all Rhode Island state and federal courts, as well as administrative and regulatory agencies on behalf of his clients. For the past eight years, he has been named a Rhode Island Super Lawyers Rising Star by Thomson Reuters, a distinction that recognizes the top 2.5 percent of New England lawyers under the age of forty or those in practice for ten years or less.

Attorney Thomson is a member of the firm’s Litigation Team. She handles complex liability defense matters and has advised business groups on cybersecurity and data privacy issues, vendor compliance, contract matters and employee investigations. She earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.
