Biography/Practice Areas
Rebecca M. Murphy is a Partner with Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC and a member of the Estate and Trust Planning, Administration and Litigation Team. She has significant experience counseling clients in all areas of trust and estate planning and administration, Medicaid planning, disability planning, probate administration and trust and estate litigation.
Attorney Murphy’s practice includes advising and representing fiduciaries, as well as trust and estate beneficiaries. She is the author of “Murder, Fraud, and Tortious Interference: The Interplay Between Probate Court Jurisdiction and Superior Court Jurisdiction in Rhode Island” and co-author of “A New Hope: Tortious Interference with an Expected Inheritance in Rhode Island.” The scholarly articles were published in the Roger Williams University Law Review. For the past four years, Attorney Murphy was named a Rhode Island Super Lawyers Rising Star by Thomson Reuters, a distinction that recognizes the top 2.5 percent of Rhode Island lawyers under the age of 40 or those in practice for 10 years or less. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, Rhode Island Chapter.
Attorney Murphy earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was Competition Editor of the Connecticut Law Review, a Dean’s Scholar, and a member of the Public Interest Law Group. She graduated with a B.A. in Religious Studies from the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. She is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Attorney Murphy is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
