PLDO Attorneys to Present at The Rhode Island Bar Association Annual Meeting

Rhode Island – June 12, 2024 – The Rhode Island Bar Association has invited several Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC (PLDO) Attorneys to present at its Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

PLDO’s prominent Trust & Estate Attorneys Bernard A. Jackvony, Rebecca M. Murphy and David P. Craven are conducting a workshop, entitled “Probate Litigation,” on Friday from 9:00am to 10:15am. As divorce, remarriage, second families, and other societal influences have caused an increase in the likelihood of litigation of decedents’ estates in Rhode Island, PLDO’s Attorneys will discuss the rules of evidence, presumptions, and other unique aspects of probate litigation to guide Rhode Island practitioners through these challenging and interesting cases.

Attorney Amanda M. Perry, a member of the firm’s Banking and Creditor’s Rights Practice, is participating in “Commercial Law Update 2024” panel that will provide a review of various state and federal court decisions related to Commercial Law written within the last 12 months, from around the United States, with an emphasis on Rhode Island decisions.  Part One of the panel is scheduled for Thursday from 1:30pm – 2:45pm and Part Two will be held later that day from 3:15pm to 4:30pm.

Partner Brian J. Lamoureux, a prominent business litigator and employment attorney who is a leading voice on social and digital media law, will co-present “Rise of the Machines: Artificial Intelligence in Business and the Courts,” on Thursday from 3:15pm to 4:30pm. This panel will discuss the rise and use of AI in business, by lawyers and in the courts; recent cases where AI was used and misused; and the many technical, legal and ethical issues that AI poses.
