PLDO Partner Brian J. Lamoureux to Present at University of Rhode Island’s Labor & Employment Conference

Rhode Island – March 31, 2025 – Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC (PLDO) Partner Brian J. Lamoureux, a prominent business litigator and employment attorney who is a leading voice on social and digital media law, will present at the 37th Annual Labor and Employment Conference on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The conference, hosted by the University of Rhode Island’s Schmidt Labor Research Center for Labor Relations & Human Resources in partnership with Roger Williams University School of Law, brings together the state’s leading labor and employment lawyers, scholars, and representatives from federal and state agencies to discuss key legal updates from state and federal courts, a significant Supreme Court case, legal challenges to Executive Action impacting labor and employment law, and AI standards and ethical responsibilities.

Attorney Lamoureux’s presentation, entitled, Artificial Intelligence and Advocacy: Ethical Obligations and Client Expectations, will address how the most popular AI tools are being used, both in general and in the courts, its current limitations, which ethical rules for attorneys are implicated by AI use, as well as special considerations impacting the labor and employment industry.

Attorney Lamoureux is a member of PLDO’s Employment, Litigation, and Corporate & Business Teams. His extensive practice areas include complex commercial litigation, employment law, cybersecurity, construction law, social media law, and creditors’ rights.  In addition to being an accomplished business litigator, he is a frequent guest speaker, broadcast commentator, and published author on various legal issues, including cybersecurity, social and digital media, artificial intelligence, data privacy rights, and employment law topics. In 2024, he was appointed by the Rhode Island Supreme Court to its Steering Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Courts.

As an Assistant Professor of Practice (Business Law) at Providence College, his alma mater, he created and teaches an MBA-level course called “Digital and Social Media in the Business Environment.” In 2019, he received Providence College’s Excellence in Teaching award. Attorney Lamoureux graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in Political Science, cum laude. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island and earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Syracuse University College of Law. At the same time, he received a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He is qualified to serve as a receiver in Rhode Island Superior Court and is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association.
