Jackvony will be featured presenters for the National Business Institute’s Continuing Legal Education webinar, entitled “Rhode Island Probate Process: In 7 Simple Steps,” for on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Attorney Craven will present “Opening the Estate” from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and “Preparing the Personal Representatives for the Job” from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Topics to be discussed during his first presentation include obtaining the will and getting it admitted; locating and notifying the beneficiaries; determining if the estate qualifies for a small estate administration; filing the initial petition with the probate court; closing the decedent’s account; laws of intestacy; and more. In his second presentation, Attorney Craven will educate attendees about a personal representative’s duties, powers, and responsibilities; how to compile an instruction guide for the personal representative; executor compensation; and potential problems and liabilities.

Attorney Jackvony will present “Resolving Disputes and Navigating Probate Litigation” from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., where he will discuss will contests, deed contests, allegations of undue influence and other causes of action; obtaining court guidance for proposed actions regarding the estate administration; probate litigation rules, procedures, and evidentiary provisions; fiduciary misconduct, liability, disputes with beneficiaries; and effective approaches to resolving disputes without going to court.
